The sport with the highest player participation in Sanders and Mineral Counties keeps on growing.
The Clark Fork Soccer Alliance just released its Fall schedule and information showing that more than 300 kids, ages 3-19 have signed up to play soccer this Fall.
And that includes a new group of kids from the Trout Creek area, according to coach and Alliance spokesperson Nick Lawyer.
“Trout Creek Public Schools will field teams at the U10 and U12 levels,” Lawyer said. “They are a new addition to the CFSA,” Lawyer said.
The CFSA, which Lawyer said is at least 29 years old, “we don’t really know,” provides soccer opportunities to players throughout the two counties, including Superior, St. Regis, Paradise, Hot Springs, Plains, Thompson Falls and Trout Creek, which is the only entry supported by public schools.
The upper level teams, U19 and U15, include 22 boys players on the varsity and JV teams, and 19 girls on the varsity team, Lawyer announced.
According to Alliance figures, 93% of the players involved attend a public school in Sanders and Mineral Counties.
And the CFSA has been producing some outstanding players over the years, including several who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.
“Last fall our boys U19 team unbeaten and swept games against Hellgate (Missoula), Columbia Falls and Whitefish, while the girls team lost only one game against many of the same varsity and JV opponents. The girls team also won the western Montana Classic (tournament) for the third time in the past four years”, Lawyer said.
Four upper level players from the CFSA committed to playing college soccer last year.
CFSA teams played at home this Tuesday (8-29) and are home against Stevensville Varsity September 5 and Frenchtown Varsity September 7.
The Alliance plays its home games at the Amundson Sports Complex near the Plains airport.
