The Columbia Falls girls soccer team won their first two games, 5-1 against Livingston on Saturday and 10-0 versus East Helena on Friday on the road. Senior Josie Harris, an all-state player, led the team scoring with a hat trick against Livingston and four goals against East Helena.

Coach Thomas Clark was excited to see a strong mix of skills, posession and scoring ability from a variety of players. Seniors Harris and Hope McAtee were “lethal” on the counter, with Mila Johns as another top scorer. Bella Mann, a returning sophomore, scored against Livingston and is expected to continue to be an asset for her team, alongside a mix of new players including Onnikka Lawrence and Riley Byrd.

“We’re going to try to execute a possession-oriented style of play,” Clark said, and he prided his players on their ability to do so effectively. On defense a lot of young players are filling out the lineup, and Clark hopes to continue working on their structure in upcoming games.

The girls played at home against Frenchtown on Tuesday with intentions to continue their winning streak. The home game against Corvallis originally set for Sept. 2 will be rescheduled for a future date, making the Sept. 5 game in Bigfork at 6 p.m. the Kats’ next opportunity for competition.
