Norma 'Jeane' Scheneman, 91

Norma “Jeane” Scheneman went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 17. She was 91. Born in Harvel, Ill., on March 1, 1932, to William L. and Emily G. Carey, she was the second of 11 children.

In her lifetime, Jeane lived in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Idaho and, recently, Montana. She worked in various jobs as a waitress and cooked in many establishments.

In 1990, while working at NIC as an assistant library technician, she was presented with the Older Worker of the Year award by the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce. She was recognized for her sunny disposition and great people skills.

Jeane is survived by her children, Sharon Teer, Athol, Idaho; Susan Cook, Athol; Patty Page, Priest River, Idaho; Peggy Hammeren, Montana; Sam Cook, Post Falls; and Jerry Scheneman (Dar), Hayden, Idaho; sister LouAnn Helms (Dennis), Billings, Mont.; sister-in-law Terry Carey, Hayden; brothers Bruce Carey (Teri), Richland, Wash.; Guy Carey, Prichard, Idaho; and Joe Carey (Diane), Priest River. She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and a treasured aunt. Jeane was also Mom and Grandma to everyone in her orbit; she was a woman who loved and was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill, Bob, Kenneth and Dick and her sisters, Helen and Elizabeth.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
