Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 5 months AGO
Lela was born on Feb. 1, 1918, in Rathdrum, Idaho. 1918 was noted for the end of World War I as well as the influenza pandemic known as the Spanish Flu. Lela died at the age of 105 in Lincoln City, Ore. She is survived by her son Richard Ohnstad, granddaughters Diana and Krista and great and great-great grandchildren!
Lela loved Idaho and after spending many years traveling as a wife of an Army serviceman, she came back to Idaho where she spent most of her remaining years. Lela was always very active, she enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and, in her earlier years, deer and elk hunting. She took on many challenging endeavors, she owned and ran a restaurant in Spirit Lake and, in her later years, she ran a day nursery out of her home, caring for babies and toddlers.
All of the children their parents loved her!
Lela was laid to rest next to her beloved husband Russell Schultz in Greenwood Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Additional photos can be found on the website “Find a Grave” for the Greenwood Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
