Holiday parades and tree lightings today

Gathering in your local city center with friends and neighbors is a merry and warm way to welcome in the holiday season.
Saturday, Dec. 2
Athol Tree Lighting Ceremony | 5 p.m. Athol Community Center 30355 N. Third St., Athol. Pony rides will start at 3 p.m. for $5, followed by the lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.
Hayden Lights Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony | 5 p.m. 8930 N. Government Way, Hayden. The parade begins at Hayden Avenue heading south on Government Way to end at Honeysuckle Avenue. The lighting ceremony will immediately follow at Hayden City Hall.
Christmas in St. Maries Lighted Parade | 5 p.m. 105 State Highway 3, St. Maries. The parade will begin at Archies, continue to College Avenue, turn right onto Fourth Street, continue to Main Avenue and end at Ken’s Custom Body and Paint. There will be prizes for entries.
December d’Lights | 5:30 p.m., 8047 Main St No. 1, Rathdrum. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 in front of City Hall, followed by the lighted vehicle parade at 6 p.m. Horse drawn carriage rides will trail the parade from 6:45 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Community Holiday Lighting Festival | 6 p.m. 34076 N. Main St., Bayview. At the large parking lot will be fire pits and hot cocoa, with a petting zoo before the lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Hot toddies will also be available for sale.
Saturday Dec. 9
Spirit Lake Christmas Parade | 6 p.m. Washington St. Spirit Lake. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. Arrive early to save a seat.
