PREP WRESTLING: Post Falls adds team title in opening weekend in Sidney

SIDNEY, Mont. — Post Falls sent six wrestlers to the finals in the Sidney Invitational, with Gage Loftin (103 pounds) and Seth Martin (182) winning titles, leading the Trojans to the team title at Sidney High on Saturday.

Rider Seguine (126), Tyson Barnhart (145), Trey Smith (170) and Kendall Sage (205) finished runner-up for Post Falls, which finished with 208.5 points.

Post Falls also won the duals tournament title on Friday.

Laurel (Mont.) was second with 166 points, followed by Mead, Colo., who the Trojans beat in the championship match on Friday.

Booth wins at 160

at Owen Invitational

POLSON, Mont. — Nathan Booth won the 160-pound title at the Owen Invitational, pinning Superior's Turner Milander in 4:26 in the finals.

Lake City's Garrett Leonard was second at 205 and Cliff Eddington was sixth at 285 for the Timberwolves, who finished sixth with 117.5 points.

Ronan (Mont.) won the team title with 266 points.

Coeur d'Alene downs Lakeland

in Tuinstra championship dual

SPIRIT LAKE — Rocco White (98 pounds), Justus Peregrina (106), Tanner George (120), Jordan Schield (126), Brock Armstrong (152) and Gabe Larsen (160) went unbeaten for Coeur d’Alene, which beat Lakeland 63-21 in the championship dual of the Van Tuinstra duals tournament at Timberlake High.

“Five matches in a day was a grind for us,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “But we made weight for the first time, and the kids competed hard. We had a lot of good things and some things we need to get corrected. We had some guys that made some mistakes, which we need to eliminate to compete at a high level. We’re really happy with the effort we made, but need to keep building on that.”

Coeur d’Alene faces Moscow and Timberlake at Timberlake on Tuesday.

Sandpoint finishes third 

at home girls invite

SANDPOINT – Sandpoint’s Mackenzie Donenfed took first place at 100 pounds to lead Sandpoint girls wrestling to a third place finish at the Blizzard Invitational held at Sandpoint Middle School.

Hunter Edmonson (114), Bayah Ratigan (138) and Lilli Marti (235) all were second for Sandpoint, who finished just behind Bonners Ferry and Post Falls. Emma Garman (120) and Izzy Stark (126) took home third place finishes for the Bulldogs.

Priest River’s Chase Smith took first place at 126 and Ezrah Vollendorff took second place at 100.

Sandpoint will be back in action on Friday at the George Wild Tournament in Kellogg. 

Priest River will head to Lakeland for a tournament on Saturday, Dec. 16.
