Jefferson Hatch of Breckenridge, Colo. holds a 20.70 lb. rainbow trout, a catch that took home second place at the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club 2023 Fall Thanksgiving Derby. LPOIC emphasizes the catch and release of trophy rainbow trout. However, anglers who wish to keep their catches for milestones like personal best catches, such as Jefferson, are allowed. Anglers who catch and transport their live rainbow trout to the weigh station and successfully release their trophy are rewarded a $500 bonus if their entry ends up in the final standings.
