Columbia Falls boys wrestling took fourth place at their first tournament of the season in Polson on Saturday with a team score of 156.

For each of their respective weight classes; Winslow Peters and Rowdy Crump took second, Jaxon Sterling and Traic Fainter took third, Billy Gustafson took fourth, Dylan Delorme took fifth and Blake Hoerner took sixth.

“Every season has a start point,” said boys head coach Jessie Schaeffer. He said his team showed a lot of heart, being off the mat as long as they have been, and now they know what needs refining. That can come down to the little things between now and the next meet - making good eating, sleeping and classwork habits so there is no “unnecessary drama” to affect their wrestling.

“As we go on, it’s going to take the whole team and all of us doing the small things right,” Schaeffer said.

On the girls side, Jaelynn Nace took second, Vanessa Nace took third, Seirra Born and Jaici Watt-Duran took fourth and Samantha Larsen took fifth in their respective weight classes.

Up next, the boys will compete in the Mining City Duals in Butte Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9. The girls will be at Flathead High School Friday and Saturday.
