Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 1 month AGO
SPOKANE VALLEY — Coeur d’Alene’s Rocco White (106 pounds) and Gabe Larsen (160) claimed titles for the Vikings, who finished second in the Inland Empire Classic on Saturday at Central Valley High.
Justus Peregrina (106), Colton Tucker (145) and Brock Armstrong (152) were second for the Vikings, who finished with 198.5 points. Jordan Schield (third at 138), Mason Rogers (fourth at 126), Logan Bradley (fifth at 138) and Gabe Grassel (sixth at 175) also placed for Coeur d’Alene.
“Rocco wrestled really solid,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat of White, who beat Peregrina in the 106-pound final. “Him and Justus practice against each other, so they know each other really well. It was tough, but Rocco looked solid. Brock had a good showing in a tough weight for a freshman. Gabe (Larsen), we’re really happy with him. He just got better throughout the entire weekend. Our guys that put the work in during the offseason are having some success, but all of our guys are making strides right now. We’re still making some mistakes, but we’re happy with the effort. They’re wrestling hard, and that’s good to see.”
Lakeland Carson Leonard won at 113. Duke Williamson (third at 120), Carter Vanek (fourth at 285), Kade Knopp (sixth at 106), Jaren Knopp (fifth at 126), Austin Howell (sixth at 160), Gage Oles (sixth at 190) and Dylan Scott (sixth at 215) also placed for Lakeland, which finished third with 151 points.
Mead (Blue) won the tournament with 251 points.
