On a cold and dreary Thursday last week, students and staff from St. Regis School took part in a ceremony for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. It was a sunny Sunday morning when, on December 7, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Air Force launched planes from 6 Japanese aircraft carriers North of Oahu. The attack on Pearl Harbor began at 7:55 that morning. The entire assault took only one hour and 15 minutes. The strike also consisted of two heavy cruisers, 35 submarines, two light cruisers, nine oilers, two battleships, and 11 destroyers. The attack killed 2,403 U.S. personnel, including 68 c…
Students and advisors from the National Honor Society of St. Regis High School paid tribute to those lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor by crafting wreaths, and placing them on stands at the local cemetery. This took place while the American Legion Montana Ray Welch Post 13 color guard displayed the flags and played taps. (Mineral Independent/Amy Quinlivan)
