I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | December 14, 2023 1:00 AM
KELLOGG — Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint girls wrestling tied for first place on Saturday at the George Wild Invite.
For the Badgers, Adelaide Heigel (107), Neveah Therrien (114) and Ireland Grady (120), Eva Willis (185) placed second edging the Badgers to tie with the Bulldogs.
Heigel went 2-1, Therrien went 4-1 and Grady went 3-2.
Girls wrestling has no classification, which allows schools of the 5A, 4A, 3A and all other classifications to compete with each other in league contests.
Sandpoint’s freshman Izzy Stark pinned all three of her opponents on Saturday and was named the 2023 George Wild Tournament’s most outstanding wrestler.
In the boys tournament, Bonners Ferry took ninth overall with Saber Blackmore (120) taking second place with a 3-1 record.
Senior Eli Leyden took third, going 3-2. Freshman Taylor Dodd also tools third, going 4-2.
