Libby Speech and Debate second at home invitational

Libby High School’s Speech and Debate team enjoyed its first home competition in more than a decade with a second-place finish.

“It was a great success with tremendous support from our school and the community!” said coach Kim Lee in a social media post. “Our Logger Speech and Debate team did very well!”

The Loggers had two students win their respective competitions while two each placed second and third.

Cash Vaughn was first in Informative Speaking and Baylie Ames won in Original Oratory.

The second-place finishers included Max Grosch in Dramatic Interpretation of Literature and Daphne Johnson in Lincoln Douglas Debate. 

Third-place finishers included Addison Skranak in Lincoln Douglas Debate and Juliana Shumate in Original Oratory.

Two Loggers were fourth. They included Jasper Bowers in Dramatic Interpretation of Literature and Layla Dagel in Informative Speaking. There were also two claiming fifth place, including Madison Brush in Original Oratory and Teague Thompson in Informative Speaking.

Thompson was also sixth in Impromptu Speaking while teammate Isabella Meyer was eighth in Informative Speaking.

The Loggers compete at Whitefish Saturday.
