PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakeside's big win at Wallace? It was Destiny
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 3 months AGO
WALLACE — When it comes to senior moments, Lakeside’s Destiny Lowley might have had hers on Friday.
Lowley hit a go-ahead jumper with 3.4 seconds left for the Knights, who rallied to beat the Wallace Miners 38-35 in the Scenic Idaho Conference opener for both at Kirby Krulitz Court.
Lowley scored eight of her team-high 14 points in the final quarter for Lakeside (3-4), which trailed by six late in the fourth.
“Destiny really got hot toward the end of the fourth,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We didn’t play our best, but at the right time, we did tonight. It’s a big win for us being a league game.”
Kimberly Pluff stole the inbounds pass after Lowley’s shot, and hit a free throw with .3 left to seal the win.
“It was a good competitive game,” Dohrman said. “The girls did a good job of getting caught up and finishing the game.”
Bethany Phillips scored 14 points for Wallace (6-3), which plays at Clark Fork on Monday.
