Gail Christine Harper-Dasovich, 88, of Spokane, Wash., passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2023. She was born in Colton, Wash., in 1934 to Vincent and Helen Meyer. She was one of nine children, most of whom are still living. She married the love of her life Donald Harper on Aug. 15, 1952, and the two of them managed the Harper family farm in Johnson, Wash., while raising seven children (Dan, Connie, Gary, Jerry, Duane, Sharon, and Jeff). In 1985 Don and Gail sold the farm and moved to Rathdrum, Idaho, where they were semi-retired but enjoyed making and selling delicious smoked sausage and beef jerky to friends and family. Following Don’s death in 1996 Gail moved to Spokane, Wash. to be near some of her children. On May 8, 2003, she married George Dasovich. George and Gail enjoyed camping, fishing and taking care of each other until George’s death in November 2013. Gail held family to be the most important aspect of her life. She was happiest when in the presence of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She requested that the family have reunions every two years and her home was always a beacon of hospitality and love for visiting family members.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and brothers Don and Ken Meyer. She is survived by brothers Dan, Neil and Dave Meyer and sisters Beverly Burger, Joan Emerson and Lynn Rodgers. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Dan Harper, Connie Pierce and husband Mark, Gary Harper and wife Joanie, Jerry Harper and wife Anna, Duane Harper and wife Sue, Sharon Robinson and husband Mark, and Jeff Harper and wife Shana, 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5001 W. Shawnee Ave., Spokane, Wash., with a graveside service at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens following the memorial for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House of Spokane would be greatly appreciated.
