Plains girls cruise over Noxon

One of the pleasant surprises of the new season, at least for Plains fans, has been the play of the Trotters, who ran their season mark to 6-1 with a 35-17 win over Noxon Saturday evening in Noxon.
In rolling through their first seven games, the Trotters, under the guidance of Brooks Sanford, have lost only to Darby.
Saturday they wasted little time in forging a big lead against the Lady Devils, who have yet to win a game in four tries.
Plains controlled the tempo and the boards in the first eight minutes of play, running out to an 11-4 lead at the end of the initial quarter.
They kept up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, holding the Devils to a single point while racking up eight of their own. At the half, the Trotters were comfortably ahead 18-5.
The third quarter was more of the same as the hustling, swarming Plains defense shut down the Noxon offense throughout the night.
Heading into the final quarter of play, Plains was up 29-7. They added four more points to their lead in the fourth quarter to secure the 35-17 win.
Junior post Lexi Deming, who has been a force in the middle all season so far for the Trotters, paced Plains with 10 points. They also got nine points from Ava Lawyer.
Noxon, meanwhile, was paced by four points each from Denna Richter and Jasmin Risch.
Plains travels to Troy this Tuesday (Dec 19) for a match up with the Lady Trojans.
The Trotters are then off through the end of the year.
Noxon has a game (boys) only versus Alberton this Thursday (Dec 21), before they too break for the Holiday season.
