Speech team wins Whitefish tourney; 7th in a row

The Columbia Falls Speech and Debate team stayed in the valley this weekend to compete in Whitefish at the Stumptown Classic. The Wildcats and the Whitefish Bulldogs fought hard for first with Columbia squeaking out a win at the end making it their seventh win of the season. 

“The Wildcats are off for the holiday break, and will be working hard on our events before our final regular season tournament the first weekend in January at Glacier High School,” coach Dawn Roe said.

The following students placed in their events:

Reed Wollenzein, first in Dramatic Interp

Lauren Rogers and Boone Shanks, first in Policy Debate

Lucas Counts and Kajsa Mohr,  first in Duo Interp

Ruby Davis, first in Informative

Carson Settles and Wollenzein, second in Duo Interp

Merell Cooley, third in Memorized Public Address

Chris Daenzer and Quinn Caudle, third in Public Forum Debate

Makinzie Taylor and Davis, fourth in Duo Interp

Settles, fifth in Informative

Eleanor Hollingsworth and Kynsleigh Gould,  fifth in Policy Debate

Kira Shanks, sixth in Memorized Public Address

Selah Heinzen, sixth  in Extemporaneous

Eleanor Smiley, seventh  in Memorized Public Address

Celestine Young, seventh in Lincoln Douglas Debate

Olivia McCarley, eighth in Impromptu
