Tonkin, a 5-foot-7 guard from Timberlake High, scored nine points for the Knights (5-4, 3-2 Cascade Collegiate Conference) in a 74-54 loss to College of Idaho in Portland on Saturday. Tonkin has started all nine games and is averaging 11 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Gies, a 6-2, 282 pound defensive tackle from Post Falls High, was named honorable mention to the All-Northwest Conference team. Gies, in his second as a starter, had 14tackles, including two for a loss and 1 1/2 sacks for the Pirates (10-1).

To be named, a scholar-athlete must have achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their institution, be nominated by the school's head coach or sports information director and have attended one full year at the school.
