Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years AGO
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) Thompson on Nov. 19, 2023. He left this world peacefully at home. He was an amazing father, grandfather, partner, and friend to many. A true cowboy at heart, he loved many things including rodeos, NASCAR, golf, family, car auctions and football.
He is survived by many who loved him deeply. His son, Travis Thompson, his wife Tiffany and their two boys, Griffin and Luke. His daughter, Tamara, her husband, Jeff Ott, and their three daughters, Elaina, Lauren and Kinsey. His beloved companion, Remy, with whom he shared many joys with. His former wife, Dixie, and her husband, Gene Jakovac, offered many years of friendship and support. His brother, James Thompson, has always been there for all of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved toddler son, Heath.
An Air Force Veteran, Jerry, achieved the remarkable distinction of becoming the youngest Crew Chief in the Strategic Air Command (SAC). An entrepreneur at heart, Jerry, embarked on numerous business adventures in Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding area. This provided many ties and friendships in the community. His ventures thrived thanks to his collaboration with his long-term business partners Terry Eastman and the late John McGruder.
Jerry’s legacy extends beyond his professional endeavors; it resides in the hearts of those who knew him. Jerry was always good for a joke or a laugh. He will be missed by so many.
A celebration of life will be held in early spring. We would love to invite all of his friends and loved ones to honor his memory. To be contacted with details please email [email protected].
Though Jerry has embarked on his next journey, his legacy of love, fortitude, and cherished memories will endure.
