| December 23, 2023 1:00 AM

Laura Brown, 51, from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed away in her home Nov. 14, 2023. She was born to David and Joette (Mowry) Teater (Hayden, Idaho) in Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada, on March 12, 1972.

Laura grew up in southern Idaho, where she attended school in Filer and Twin Falls. Laura moved to Coeur d’Alene to be with her parents after she spent time in college studying elementary education. She spent some time as a preschool teacher and childcare provider before working in computers. She worked for the Post Falls School District during the '90s as a computer technician.

While working for the school district, she met her future husband, a Post Falls Police Officer, who was working as a School Resource officer at the high school. Laura and Dan were married in Coeur d’Alene in June of 1997. After living a short time in Endicott, Wash., they moved back to Coeur d’Alene. Laura worked in the elementary schools as a substitute teacher. She especially loved working with special needs children.

Laura could always be seen with a smile on her face. She cared deeply about family and friends. She loved to have dinners with friends and family, play games and share stories. She had an infectious laugh and usually had a funny story to tell about her children or her husband.

Laura had a kindness that extended to many others. She took in her struggling nephews, nieces and friends of her children who needed a place to stay. She was loving and very loyal to her family and those she called friends.

Laura loved football, especially the Green Bay Packers. She could be found watching football every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday whether or not she was able to watch her favorite team. Laura was especially excited when she was able to travel to Green Bay, Wis., to watch a Packers game in Lambeau Field and cheer her team on in person.

Laura enjoyed camping from the time she was little and would often talk about her experiences camping in southern Idaho with her family and grandparents. She enjoyed being outside. She loved to have flowers surrounding her back patio where she would invite friends and family for get-togethers.

Laura is survived by her husband, Dan (Cd’A); children, Danielle (Cd’A), David (Missoula, Mont.), Jennifer (Spokane, Wash.), and Gavin (Cd’A); her parents, David and Jo Teater; and her brother, Michael Teater (Post Falls). Laura was a fun aunt to 21 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Arlene Teater (Twin Falls, Idaho) and Joe and Darlene Mowry (Nampa, Idaho).

A celebration of life will be held for Laura at First Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Lakeside Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 2 p.m.

Please consider contributing to Laura’s GoFundMe account (https://gofund.me/7fadbce5) as an alternative to flowers. Funds will be donated in Laura’s honor to Specialized Needs Recreation, a local recreational and social opportunity for individuals with special needs.
