I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | February 2, 2023 1:00 AM
BONNERS FERRY — Tractor Supply Company is planning to open a store on Homestead Loop, but is still seeking the approval of county commissioners.
At the Jan. 23 Boundary County commissioner meeting, a hearing on the proposal was continued to Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the County Annex (former Armory). The extension was approved to allow the applicants more time to provide information and a 3D model. The road variance application for the project will also be held on Jan. 14 at 2:30 p.m.
At the Oct. 27, 2022, Boundary County Planning and Zoning meeting, a conditional use permit was approved for James and Elida Byler to allow a structure for commercial use with a primary structure exceeding 15,000 feet to allow for a retail Tractor Supply Co. store. The parcel is just under six acres located at 87 Homestead Loop.
Jennifer Nylander of HSC Bonners Ferry, LLC represented the developer for the proposed Tractor Supply store. She has met with the Bounty Road and Bridge department to discuss approaches.
At the Oct. 27 meeting, she said that Tractor Supply Co. store is required to have fire suppression and so a water tank will be built on site. The land south of the parking lot will be for stormwater management and snow storage.
There was no public testimony nor rebuttal presented at the meeting. On Oct. 27, the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved the conditional use permit to allow a commercial use with a primary structure exceeding 15,000 feet to allow for a retail Tractor Supply Store.
The closest Tractor Supply Co. store is in Old Town.
