Jeff Hill (68) of Spirit Lake went to be with our Lord and Savior on Jan. 25, 2023, with his wife, son and daughter-in-law by his side.

Jeff was born and raised in Reading, Pa. After high school, he headed west, first arriving in Oregon and shortly thereafter settling in San Jose, Calif., where he met his wife, Rebecca. They married in 1980 and relocated to Reno in 1989. In 1992, they were blessed with a son, Ryan. In 1998, the family officially settled in Idaho.

Jeff spent many years in manufacturing and sales but in 2010 he fulfilled a goal to be self-employed when he became the owner/operator of Heaven’s Best Carpet Cleaning serving Kootenai County. In 2019, he retired and became a full-time “Papi” to his grandkids.

Jeff loved the outdoors and spent time camping, fishing, traveling and — later in life — hunting (his wife says the hunting pursuit was mostly about spending precious time with his son, daughter-in-law and grandkids). He pursued various interests over the years including photography, wood-working, home projects, karate, gardening, playing guitar and drums, riding his motorcycle on Idaho and Montana backroads, baking homemade sourdough bread and, most recently, enjoying “tractor time.” He was also known as Mr. Fixit; if something broke, you took it to Papi to be salvaged.

In recent years, Jeff became a member of Real Life Ministries and was baptized in 2021 alongside his granddaughter, Ellie; this was a life-changing decision for Jeff.

Through and through, Jeff’s biggest passion was the family he leaves behind. He is beloved as a husband, dad and Papi. Jeff will be deeply missed by his family and friends; as one friend described him, “Jeff had a special way of making everyone he encountered feel loved.” We couldn’t agree more!

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rebecca; son Ryan and daughter-in-law Kenzy; grandchildren Emery, Ellie, Garrett and Evelyn; and many family members in Nevada, Massachusetts and Florida.

To honor Jeff’s memory, a celebration of life service and reception will be held at Real Life Ministries (North Campus), 30447 N Roughstock Road, Athol (fronting Highway 54) on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m.
