COEUR d’ALENE — Freshman Cami Harris scored 13 points off the bench for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference win over the Timberwolves at Rolly Williams Court.
“She shot the ball really well for us,” NIC coach Nathan Covill said. “She was one of our top offensive players before she hurt her foot before conference started. Getting her back to 100% really helps on the offensive end.”
With the win, NIC (12-10, 6-5 NWAC) trails Wenatchee Valley (9-12, 6-4) by a half-game for fourth in the East Region. The Cardinals and Knights play Monday in Wenatchee.
Freshman Solei Elletson also scored 13 points and sophomore Laney Smith had 12 for NIC, which shot 28 of 57.
“It’s been a while since we’ve shot that well,” Covill said. “We played really well together. Our goal is to be peaking at the right time, but we don’t have time to waste. So we’ll see how it goes on Monday in Wenatchee.”
Jaelyn Brainard, a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene High, had 20 points, five rebounds and four steals for Blue Mountain (4-15, 2-9).
