With more than 500 adults registering, Fisher River Valley Fire and Rescue annual ice fishing derby could only be termed a big success.
Last weekend, the department’s primary fundraiser enjoyed good weather as anglers from across northwest Montana worked to bring home cash, other prizes and fish for the dinner table.
The department’s auxiliary puts on the derby, which has been held for about 25 years, according to event organizers.
“We had more than 500 adults sign up and we don’t have kids register, so it was a good turnout,” department EMS captain Barb Neumann said.
