Fisher River Valley Fire and Rescue hosts annual fishing derby

With more than 500 adults registering, Fisher River Valley Fire and Rescue annual ice fishing derby could only be termed a big success.

Last weekend, the department’s primary fundraiser enjoyed good weather as anglers from across northwest Montana worked to bring home cash, other prizes and fish for the dinner table.

The department’s auxiliary puts on the derby, which has been held for about 25 years, according to event organizers.

“We had more than 500 adults sign up and we don’t have kids register, so it was a good turnout,” department EMS captain Barb Neumann said.

Here are the names of anglers, adults and kids, who placed in the top three in four categories, including rainbow trout, northern pike, yellow perch and salmon.

Rainbow trout

Adult - 1. Tim Carvey, 10 pounds, 10.6 ounces; 2. Caden Williams, 8 pounds, 7.5 ounces; 3. Shawn Michalkiewicz, 2 pounds, 13.9 ounces. Youth - 1. Allyson Myers, 1 pound, 5.8 ounces; 2. Reid Schlegel, 1 pound, 5.6 ounces; 3. Colton Burns, 1 pound, 4.6 ounces.

Pike

Adult - 1. Darrel Dusek, 14 pounds, 9 ounces; 2. Bob Andrews, 9 pounds, 7.8 ounces; 3. Trenton Tennison, 8 pounds, 13.6 ounces. Youth - 1. Reid Schlegel, 8 pounds, 6.7 ounces; 2. Kymber Judkins, 5 pounds, 5 ounces; Adonis Silvestri, 3 pounds, 1 ounce.

Yellow perch

Adult - 1. Devon Bukowski, 14.9 ounces; 2. Mike Holmstrom, 14.7 ounces; 3. Kimmy Klin, 14 ounces. Youth - 1. Mason Bache, 11.8 ounces; 2. Westin Daken, 9.5 ounces; 3. Adonis Silvestri, 9 ounces.

Salmon

Adult - 1. Brian Sharp, 15.7 ounces; 2. Caden Williams, 12.4 ounces; 3. Shannon Beal, 12.1 ounces. Youth - 1. Adonis Silvestri, 13.1 ounces; Tres Johnson, 4.4 ounces; 3. Alina Johnson, 4.3 ounces.
