Junior Chase Sanroman scored 28 points to lead the Wampus Cats past the Tigers in the championship game of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament at North Idaho College, advancing to state for the second time since 2021.
“Tonight, the team played well. We had to get the rust out after not playing for a couple of weeks,” head coach Heath Beason said. “The first quarter was trying to get in a rhythm and it took us to the second quarter.”
Junior Ethan Howard scored 12 points for Clark Fork (13-8), which lost in a play-in game in 2022.
“We had support from the bench. We all played well and I’m proud of the boys,” Beason said. “We have our work cut out for us as we get ready for state.”
The Wampus Cats open at state next Thursday at Caldwell High.
