The Western News is expanding its Friday edition beginning March 3.

The “weekender” will feature more local news and sports, expanded opinion, photo galleries, state news and a larger classified advertising section.

The driving force behind the expanded Friday edition is to get more news to our loyal readers. There are many issues in Lincoln County and Northwest Montana that we know our readers want to stay informed on, and with no daily newspapers being delivered to the area, the weekender edition will help fill this information void.

We also know subscribers want to read more community-focused features that spotlight the great things happening in Lincoln County. Look for monthly features on area businesses and nonprofits, as well as volunteers and community members who serve our county’s residents in so many ways.

Another element of the Friday edition will be a regular community calendar where readers can stay up to date on government meeting dates, festivals, live music and theater and local sports. Businesses and organizations can easily submit their events to be featured online at thewesternnews.com and in the print calendar each Friday.

One thing that won’t be changing is our commitment to covering local government, courts and law enforcement. We know Lincoln County residents depend on The Western News for this coverage and we remain dedicated to reporting these important topics, as well.

Thank you for reading The Western News. We appreciate your support and are always looking for community feedback.
