The holiday break is over and for scholastic sports teams in Libby and Troy, it’s back to live competition.
The Libby basketball teams return to the hardwood Thursday. The girls (1-4) will play at Columbia Falls while the boys (3-2) will host the Wildcats.
Friday, Browning is scheduled to make the long trip down U.S. 2 as Libby hosts both boys and girls games.
On the mats, the Greenchain will wrestle a quad in Polson Thursday. In addition to the host Pirates, Stevensville and Bigfork will take part. The grapplers will then compete in the Ronan Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
All that precedes the Battle of the Kootenai with Libby hosting Eureka. Girls basketball is set to tip at 4 p.m., followed by wrestling at 5:30 p.m. and boys basketball capping the evening at 7:30 p.m.
Libby needs to win two of the three events to bring the Highway 37 Battle of the Kootenai trophy back home. The Loggers had won it four straight seasons before the Lions claimed the last two.
Troy has a busy week with three basketball games, including two at home.
The Trojans host Stillwater Christian tonight and Bigfork Thursday at the Troy Activity Center.
On Saturday, they play at Alberton.
