On Dec. 17, 2022, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away at the age of 94 in Apache Junction, Ariz. Charles was born Feb. 10, 1928. in Phoenix, Ariz., to Harry and Frances Brooks.

Charlie married Delora Mae Horn on March 2, 1951, and together they had four sons, who survive him. Keith (late Mitzi Brooks) and son Tyrell Brooks; David (Carol) and children, Mary, Molly and Andrew Brooks; Robert (Tiffany) and daughter, Shawna (Jason) Thompson and their children, Savannah and Aspen Thompson; Kevin (Melanie) and children, Ashley Lerner, Lauren Brooks Smith and Corey Brooks.

Charlie graduated from Arizona State University and started his 32-year career with Graybar Electric in Phoenix, Ariz., with transfers to Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif. Upon Charlie's retirement, Delora and Charlie moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho, and built their forever home. Upon completion, Charlie started a 20-year career as an independent contractor with D'Ewart Representatives.

Charlie was involved in the Masons since 1957 in the Phoenix, Ariz., chapter and continued until the end of his life. Charlie and Delora also devoted almost 40 years of philanthropic dedication to the Shriner's Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

Charles Monroe Brooks enriched not only his wife of almost 72 years, their children and respective families, but also the countless people whose lives he touched with his unwavering love, loyalty and philanthropy.

The family would like to express a special appreciation to Jody McKevitt, George Franco and Fran Stephenson, who were their wonderful friends. They were always kind and generous in their immense help in making sure Charlie and Delora were tended to with great care in their later years.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Masonic Lodge in Phoenix, Ariz., or the Shriner's Hospital in Spokane, Wash.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2023.

He will be greatly missed.
