COEUR d’ALENE — As the defense goes, so has the North Idaho College women’s basketball team.

NIC limited Treasure Valley to 19 of 53 shooting, winning its third straight game 79-58 on Saturday at Rolly Williams Court.

“I thought we played pretty well in spurts today,” NIC women’s basketball coach Nathan Covill said. “When we rebound and hold teams to one shot, we’re a pretty good defensive team. In the last two games, we’ve rebounded the ball well and had some good consistency off the bench.”

Addie Kiefer, a freshman from Lakeland High, had 21 points and nine rebounds for NIC (8-5, 2-0 NWAC).

“She’s had a great week,” said Coville of Kiefer, who had 12 rebounds in Wednesday’s 62-46 win over Columbia Basin. “I’m learning more about her as a player each day and what she’s comfortable with. She just continues to play hard and when she realizes what a weapon she can be, she’ll do great. She’s just a humble kid that works hard.”

Freshman Solei Elletson had 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting for NIC, which plays at Big Bend in Moses Lake on Wednesday.

Valerie Vorwaller scored 12 points for Treasure Valley (2-10, 0-1).
