COEUR TERRE: ‘Do not destroy our neighborhood’

I reside on Moccasin Road, in Indian Meadows.

Coeur Terre is proposing eventually having 6,000 homes on the Coeur d’Alene side of Huetter. The average home has two vehicles, not accounting for additional drivers, we need to anticipate a large increase in traffic. There will also be business, school and construction traffic.

Using Appaloosa, Arrowhead, Woodside and Nez Perce as through streets will disrupt our neighborhood, putting an unnecessary burden on homeowners. We are seniors and multi-generational homes. We also have homes with dogs and cats, goats and horses and chickens. And don’t forget the occasional deer or moose. There are better ways to do this. Also, that traffic can’t get past Atlas as all of the proposed streets end at Atlas.

Huetter should bear the burden of this additional traffic as the main street, not our Indian Meadows neighborhood streets to Atlas.

Another consideration is Atlas doesn’t have the land to be widened, walking paths on one side and forestry land and homes on the other. Building at Atlas and Seltice has begun and is adding an additional 680 units, houses and townhomes. Atlas already has heavy traffic and is riddled with potholes that will only get worse. Part of Atlas was repaved this past summer. With the traffic that has increased it is already riddled with potholes.

We are not against growth in our city but please do not destroy our neighborhood in the process.
