On Dec. 19, 2022, Frank Mansur, beloved father, brother, grandfather and husband, passed away peacefully at his home. Frank was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Indonesia. As a boy he moved to Regensburg, Germany, with his mother. Later they moved to Holland, where Frank graduated from college with a degree in engineering. In 1961, Frank moved to the United States with his mother and stepfather, where he joined the military and earned the honorable position of Navy Seal. During his service to his country, he became a prisoner of war, and later was awarded the Quilt of Valor.

After Frank was honorably discharged from the military, he moved to Chicago, where he supervised at Bell & Howell LLC Camera/Motion Picture Co. He then moved to California and was a supervisor at Carnation. Frank was especially fond of the free food perks from the plant! After Carnation, Frank began his career in the steel industry, until he later retired in the state of Indiana. Frank married his wife Lois in 1995, and moved to Coeur d Alene in 2001.

He loved fishing and golf. Frank was extremely social, and wouldn’t let a stranger get by without at least a “Hello.” He had an amazing sense of humor, boisterous laugh and smile on his face even up to the day of his passing. If you met Frank, and spent any time with him at all, you’d remember him. He was an entertaining jokester and storyteller. Unfortunately, we can’t share many of his jokes because he got them from the steel mill and the military!

Frank was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lynn; his son, Kenneth; his father, Louis Mansur; mother, Ernani; his stepfather, Cornelius; and his brothers, Paul and Louie Postelmans. He is survived by his wife, Lois; his sister, Prisilla Fuller and husband, Patrick; his sister, Mari Ann Wessley; sister, Theresia von Maaren and husband, Herman; brother, William Postelmans and wife, Janey; and brother, Peter Postelmans and wife, Vicky. Frank also has his daughter Karla and husband, Dennis Thomason, along with his daughter, Stephanie Risk and husband, Tom. His three stepchildren are Stacey Gerry, Jeff Hall (and his wife, Laura), and Mara Tribbey and husband, Brett. Frank is also survived by four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank, you led a beautiful life, and you were a blessing to this world! Rest in the care of our Heavenly Father.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Yates Funeral Home – Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID. Please visit Frank’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
