Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years, 8 months AGO
RATHDRUM — In a rivalry game, it came down to those extra shots at Hawk Court.
Hunter Higgins hit three 3-pointers to finish with 18 points, Ayson McLuskie had three 3-pointers for 15 as visiting Timberlake held off Lakeland 67-61 in a nonleague game on Tuesday.
“They did a good job of attacking the rim and knocking shots down,” said Lakeland coach Tony Hanna, whose team went 4 of 9 from the free-throw line, compared to 19 of 28 for Timberlake. “Our defensive rotations weren’t great and they just kept attacking and getting to the line.”
Raj Olivieri scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half for Timberlake (4-9), which faces Genesis Prep on Thursday at The Courts in Post Falls.
Ben Ryan scored a season-high 18 points for Lakeland (2-9), which travels to Kellogg next Tuesday.
“Ben had a really good game tonight,” Hanna said. “We started to get the ball inside and crashed the boards on the offensive end.”
