MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Sophomore Julius Mims scored 28 points for North Idaho College, which rallied from a 47-40 halftime deficit to beat Big Bend 84-78 in a Northwest Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
“We had to grit one out tonight,” NIC men’s basketball coach Corey Symons said. “We’ve been trying to tell our guys that we’re the No. 1 team in the conference and we’re going to get everyone’s best punch. And we came out a little lackadaisical in the first half and our defense wasn’t up to par. We just didn’t play good basketball in the first half.”
Statistics were not provided by Big Bend to NIC.
NIC limited Big Bend to 31 points in the second half.
“It was a good win for us on the road, especially when we didn’t play very good,” Symons said.
Sophomore Taden King scored 17 points for NIC (15-0, 3-0 NWAC), which hosts Walla Walla on Saturday.
Big Bend is 3-8, 1-1.
