PREP WRESTLING: Macdonald onto semifinals at Rocky Mountain Classic

MISSOULA, Mont. — Lake City senior Zach Macdonald (113 pounds) advanced to the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Classic after going unbeaten on the first day of wrestling at Sentinel High on Friday.
Macdonald will face Havre’s Matt Lemer in the semifinal round.
Brycen Duboise (126), Blaine Leonard (138), Garrett Leonard (170) and Sebastian Mosman (182) are in the consolation bracket for Lake City, which is 18th with 48 points.
Tanner George (113), Will Rossi (120), Dax Larsen (138), Brett Meyers (145) and Ty Paulin (182) are in the consolation bracket for Coeur d’Alene, which is 15th with 60.5.
“Both Brett and Ty had some good wins over some quality guys,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “Dax lost his first match, but is fighting his way back into the placing round. Tanner has come quite a long way for us. It’s a tough competition, but we’ve got to keep plugging along and doing what we’re doing.”
Flathead High of Kalispell, Mont., leads the tournament with 131 points.

Post Falls goes unbeaten,
moves into Gold Bracket
POST FALLS — Post Falls went 2-0 on the first day at the River City Duals to advance to the championship round of the Gold Bracket at The Arena.
The Trojans will be joined by Meridian, Nampa, Blackfoot, Mead, Mountain View, Post Falls No. 2 and Lewiston, all of which went 2-0 on the first day of the tournament.
Wrestling resumes today at 9 a.m., with championship finals tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m.
