I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | January 16, 2023 2:00 PM
KALISPELL — Bonners Ferry boys basketball (10-1) defeated the Stillwater Christian Cougars by nearly a 40-point margin on Friday, Jan. 13.
The Badgers leaped ahead in the first quarter with 22 points against the Cougars’ nine. The Badgers kept up the pace scoring 21 points in the second and leading 43-16 at halftime.
The last time that Bonners Ferry and Stillwater Christian met during the 2020-21 season opener, the Badgers won, 67-55.
Bonners Ferry head coach Nathan Williams said it was a great team win.
“We played really good defense and rebounded well,” he said.
The Badgers have been working on rebounding and good defense especially after close games, like against St. Maries and Moscow earlier this month, Williams said. The team has a season goal to hold their opponent to 50 points a game, which they have succeeded in against nine teams this season, he added.
Asher Williams led the contest and led the Badgers with 25 points.
Luke Frampton led the Cougars with 17 points, with nine points coming from three-pointers.
The Badgers play Friday at home at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. against Lakeside (Plummer) for Senior Night.
