PREP BASKETBALL: Timberlake girls top North Idaho Christian

SPIRIT LAKE — Junior Jenna Chase led three Timberlake players into double figures with 15 points as the host Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the state media poll, defeated the North Idaho Christian School Royals 66-30 on Monday night.

Peyton Young added 14 points, Marissa Needs 11 for Timberlake (13-2), which outscored North Idaho Christian 37-12 in the middle two quarters.

“We got out in transition, did a better job pushing the ball and making shots,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “They played a sagging zone, and we were hesitant to shoot open shots (early).”

Jennifer Peterson scored 13 points, Danica Kelly 10 for North Idaho Christian (21-2), which plays Christian Center School on Thursday the HUB Sports Center in Liberty Lake.

“They fought hard, they played hard, they shot the ball well,” Miller said of the Royals.

Timberlake plays host to Lakeside on Wednesday in a makeup game.
