Bonnie Stone passed away Dec. 13, 2022, at home in Coeur d’Alene. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Bonnie was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Decatur, Neb., to Lue and Dorothea Dimmick. The family moved frequently during Bonnie’s childhood, finally settling in Idaho. There, she met Oren and they were married April 11, 1947. They settled in Potlatch and welcomed Linda in 1948 and James in 1950.

In 1961, Bonnie went to work for General Telephone in Moscow. She started as an operator and remained with the company until retiring as Operator Services Manager in 1988. She made many lifelong friends during her career.

In retirement Bonnie and Oren spent years traveling the country in their motorhome. They moved back to Coeur d’Alene for good, prior to Oren’s passing in 2002.

Bonnie loved bowling, participating in leagues and tournaments until her health prevented her from doing so. In her later years, she found a propensity for poetry, she also enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, quilting and playing cards, especially spades! Bonnie loved to share her creations with loved ones, she put a lot of thought and care into her personalized gifts.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oren; brothers Dick and Don; son-in-law Ed; and daughter-in-law Peggy.

Bonnie is survived by brother, Mike (Peggy); children, Linda and Jim (Cathy); grandchildren: Christine (John), Brad (Angie), Alan, Chris (Heather) and Shilo (Rob); great-grandchildren: Robyn, Sirena, Brayden, Skyless, Koolan, Lizzie, Rachae, Riddick and Raelynn; as well as many nieces and nephews that were dear to her.

There will be no service at Bonnie’s request. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Bonnie’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
