PREP ROUNDUP: Timberlake slows it down, runs past Lakeside

SPIRIT LAKE — After being in a hurry for the first half, Timberlake dedicated the second half to slowing down and playing at its own pace.

Slow, fast, whatever it might be, Timberlake’s still pretty good.

Freshman Malia Miller scored nine of her 17 points in the third quarter and sophomore Marissa Needs had seven of her 10 in the third as the Tigers beat the visiting Lakeside Knights 63-18 on Wednesday.

“In the first half, we kind of rushed some shots,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “We did a better job of shooting on our terms and ended up shooting a better percentage after that. Lakeside was battling, but the ball wasn’t falling for either team in the first quarter.”

Timberlake (14-2) hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.

Senior Arianna Havier-Gorr and freshman Kyleigh Wolfe scored six points each for Lakeside (10-3), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Friday.

Riply Luna, who scored 41 points in Tuesday’s game against visiting Lakeland, had 19 for Kellogg (10-3), which has won six straight games.

Brad Tesky scored 14 points for Wallace (3-8), which hosts Priest River on Friday.

Kellogg travels to Grangeville on Friday, then faces Orofino on Saturday in Central Idaho League play.
