Two Post Falls women are facing felony charges after they allegedly stole mail from more than 40 different people, including credit cards and W-2 statements.
Victoria L. Bircher, 33, is charged with grand theft and forgery.
Shawndia F. Kinsey, 32, is charged with grand theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Detectives with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Red Lion Hotel Templin's on the River in Post Falls on Wednesday to “follow up on a grand theft and forgery investigation,” according to a news release, and made contact with Bircher and Kinsey.
Misdemeanor probation officers searched a room at the hotel, police said, where they found approximately 65 separate checks for various personal, business and government accounts, along with two checkbooks.
Police also reportedly found “approximately 10 new credit cards in victims’ names,” as well as 19 W-2 statements and suspected illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Law enforcement will contact victims if their mail or checks are recovered.
An investigation is ongoing and police expect that additional charges will be filed.
Judge Clark Peterson ordered Thursday that Bircher be held on $50,000 bail and Kinsey be held on $20,000 bail.
