Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years AGO
COEUR d’ALENE — In a matchup between a team leading the Inland Empire League and the top 3A team in the Greater Spokane League, this game was all Coeur d'Alene Vikings.
Junior Teagan Colvin scored 22 points, 16 in the second half as Coeur d'Alene routed the visiting Mead Panthers 63-36 in a recently scheduled game at Viking Court on Saturday afternoon.
“We were excited to get this game against Mead,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Nicole Symons, whose team beat Post Falls 64-40 in an Inland Empire League game on Friday. “I don’t think we played very well in the first half with too many turnovers. We came out after the half and really turned it on.”
Teryn Gardner scored 12 points for Mead (10-3), which is tied for first with Central Valley in the 4A/3A GSL.
“Teryn is a great player that can shoot and get to the rim,” Symons said. “It took a team effort to slow her down.”
Mead coach Quantae Anderson picked up two technical fouls late in the first quarter and was ejected. For the game, Coeur d'Alene was 25 of 36 from the free-throw line, Mead 5 of 5.
Madison Mitchell and Libby Awbery scored nine points each, Madi Symons eight for Coeur d’Alene (16-2), which hosts Post Falls on Thursday.
