Rosemarie "Rosie" Newkirk Pallett, 79
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 12 months AGO
Rosemarie passed away peacefully in her home the morning of Jan. 18, 2023. Rosie was born in Morenci, Ariz., in 1943 to John and Lela Sheets. Through the years, she had a close relationship with her brother Preston and her sister Erma, who she loved dearly. Rosie married the love of her life, Raymond Newkirk. The two would live an adventurous life together and would have four children, Wayne, Valarie, Tressa and Jennifer. Rosie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
As a young wife and mother, Rosie was soon introduced to the world of gardening and sewing by her neighbor, Janet Ferguson. Rosie would go on to make clothing for her children, shirts for her husband and spend her days gardening when she wasn’t working. Rosie and Janet remained lifelong best friends.
Rosie’s passion for sewing and quilting was known by anyone who had met her. Her home was warm and welcoming with handmade seasonal wall-hangings and her quilts on display. Family and friends loved receiving her artwork as gifts. Rosie loved attending quilting retreats and classes with her close friends. She was a friendly face and prolific quilter in the community.
In 2009, Rosie retired from Kootenai County as deputy clerk. She would go on to enjoy many years of retirement with her husband until Raymond passed away in 2016. Rosie was lucky enough to find love and companionship again with Robert (Bob) Pallett. The two married and were able to spend a few great years together. Rosie loved visiting with family and friends. She had a special relationship with her children and each of her grandchildren.
Rosie is survived by her sister, Erma and her husband Ziggy of Wenatchee, Wash.; her daughter, Valarie and son-in-law, Joe Moser of Ritzville, Wash.; grandchildren, Steven, Jeff, Jessica, Justin (Heidi), Chelsea, Rachel (Cody), Tyler, Olivia and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Miya, Tatum, Cabe, Harli, Aryiah, Jeffrey, Kieran, Macie, Cavan, Sahara, Dean, Kayleigh, Jayden and Naylah; and her best friends, Janet and Dallas of Whidbey Island, Wash.
The family sends a heartfelt thank you to Rosie’s dear friend and quilting partner, Cindy Little, and to Hospice of North Idaho for honoring her needs and wishes. A special thank you to Yates Funeral Home for providing the final care of our loved one with compassion and professionalism.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. You may visit Rosie’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
