A Kalispell man with warrants for his arrest is in custody after a recent traffic stop near Libby.

David Wayne Anderson, 51, is lodged in the Lincoln County Detention Center on $15,000 bail and facing four charges, including one felony for allegedly possessing methamphetamine. Other misdemeanor charges include driving on a suspended license, driving without liability insurance and an expired registration.

Anderson was booked into jail on Jan. 25 after Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kirk Kraft stopped Anderson’s black Honda at the intersection of Montana 37 and Kootenai River Road at 11:47 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.

In Kraft’s probable cause statement, he wrote that the Honda had a expired 2022 license tab. The car began to pull over and Kraft spoke to Anderson.

Kraft reported that Anderson allegedly said his license was suspended. He also said had just bought the car and didn’t license it or have insurance for the car. When Kraft checked with dispatch, he confirmed Anderson’s license was suspended and that there were two warrants for Anderson in Montana.

After taking Anderson to the county jail, he completed an inventory of the defendant’s personal effects. Kraft reported finding a small plastic baggie with a 1.1 grams of a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Anderson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 8.
