ANNIVERSARIES

Gary and Cathy O’Neal

45th Anniversary

45 years! It’s been quite a party Woodrow! On June 25, 1978, Gary and Cathy (Goff) O’Neal were married on the banks of the Spokane River in Coeur d'Alene.

A third-generation native of Coeur d'Alene, Cathy is still here! Gary comes from the metropolis of Harrison. Cathy graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and Gary graduated from Kootenai High School. They have made their home here and raised their two girls. Anna and Chris McKahan were married right here and have given them two grandbabies Greyson and Oliver. Kelly and Michael Cocks were also married here.

With a plethora of “jobs” the Lord has given them over the years, their very favorite has been doing marriage coaching together as a team. Well, pretty much everything they do they do as a team! From gardening to boating to motorcycle riding to remodeling homes to just being able to have fun together no matter what they do is what they do! Family is a priority. One of their favorites is traveling and they have done a lot! All over the world. This fall they will celebrate with another trip to the Maine coast and head to Ireland, Scotland and England next summer.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

John (Mike) and Shirley Marsan

60th Anniversary

John (Mike) and Shirley Marsan request your presence to celebrate with them 60 years of marriage July 8, 2023, at the Blue Wolf Community Hall from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments, cake and ice cream to top it off.

There will be pictures taken at the start of the party. Also, a memory board to write your favorite memory on it for them to read.

Sixty years of marriage is equal to 720 months of hugs, 3,130 weeks of laughter, 21,915 days together and 525,960 hours of love.

We are blessed by all of our family and blessed to watch them grow and have families of their own, and making us blessed to become Grandma and Grandpa.

Then again blessed to become great-grandma and great-grandpa and OMA and OPA.

For a day filled with an abundance of love and blessing given by their children and grandchildren.

MILESTONE BIRTHDAY

Catherine Mae Orth

100th Birthday

Catherine Mae (Jungers) Orth celebrated her 100th birthday June 19, 2023. She celebrated with more than 120 family, friends and guests at Garden Plaza in Post Falls.

Catherine was born in Turner, Mont., and was the oldest of five siblings. Her father and mother farmed a homestead just 12 miles south of the Canadian border until the Depression and dust bowl drove them out. At age 12 her family moved to Sleepy Eye, Minn., where they farmed and ran a family dairy business.

She met the love of her life, Donald Orth, while still in high school. After graduation, she received a teaching certificate and taught in a one-room school house. Donald entered the Army Air Corps during World War II and went off to training in Texas. Catherine, known as Kit, soon followed, and they were married July 15, 1944.

As a military family, they moved to numerous bases within Texas before the end of the war. Their daughter, Jettye, was born in San Angelo, Texas. They were then assigned to Adak, Alaska, where son Don was born. After their Alaskan tour they were assigned to Albuquerque, N.M., central California and eventually Riverside, Calif., where son Philip was born. After nine years in California, they moved to Montgomery, Ala., Biloxi, Miss., and then to Clark Air Force Base, Philippine Island. Kit learned to play and love bridge and golf as a military spouse.

Their final military assignment was to Annandale, Va., where Donald retired in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. They moved to Hayden in 1970 and spent a year building their retirement home. Golf, square dancing, bridge, RVing, waterskiing and traveling were their primary pastimes.

For her birthday bash, relatives and friends from all over the country gathered at Garden Plaza where Kit has resided for the past five years. Fifteen of her 18 great-grandchildren and her brother were in attendance. It was a great 100-year celebration!
