LEGION BASEBALL: Lums finish tourney with victory

COEUR d’ALENE — Kyle Bridge and Owen Benson drove in three runs each as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen class AA team blanked the Okotok Dawgs 18U 18-0 on Sunday at Thorco Field to conclude play in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Senior Wood Bat Classic.

Bridge finished 2 for 4 and scored three runs for Coeur d’Alene (14-11), which finished 2-3 in the tourney. He hit a two-run double in the third inning.

Nolan Christ was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and three runs scored for the Lums.

Cooper Erickson and Karl Schwarzer teamed on the shutout. Erickson scattered three hits in four innings, striking out three and walking one.

The Dawgs walked 11 batters, hit two and committed four errors.

Next up for the Lums is the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament in Whitefish, Mont., beginning Thursday.

Northern Lakes wins two, finishes 3-2 at tourney

MEAD, Wash. — The Mountaineers class A team beat the Glacier Twins of Whitefish, Mont., 8-0 and Mt. Spokane 5-3 to wrap up play at the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Junior Wood Bat Classic at Mt. Spokane High.

Against the Glacier Twins, Cooper Lenz pitched a six-inning two-hitter, striking out two and walking none for Northern Lakes. He also hit a two-run single in the fifth inning.

Raiston Ellwood went 3 for 4 and scored a run, and Tadhg Ellwood drove in a pair of runs.

Against Mt. Spokane, Andrew Horn singled in Lenz in the fifth inning to break a 3-all tie. Kenny Wells singled in Sam Pemberton in the sixth for the Mountaineers.

Next up for Northern Lakes (15-8) is a tournament in Missoula, starting Thursday.

The Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen 16U team advanced to the semifinals of the Junior Wood Bat Classic, and will face I-5 Toyota Mountain Dew today at 2 p.m. at Thorco Field. The championship game follows at 4:30.
