COEUR d'ALENE — Not all fires on the Fourth of July were caused by misuse of fireworks.

The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department responded Tuesday to an outdoor fire that homeowners reported was due to an out of control game of "fire Jenga."

Firefighters made sure it was out.

The game reportedly involved stacking wood and setting it ablaze. It's some type of tribute to the game "Jenga" that involves stacking small pieces of wood and removing them one by one without causing the tower to tumble.

The fire department also had five medical incidents in the downtown area in and around City Park and four fireworks-associated vegetation fires in the city.

The department and Northern Lakes Fire District assisted Kootenai County Fire and Rescue with a structure fire in Post Falls around midnight.

A garage was damaged, KCFR reported.

"Crews got a quick knock on the fire and kept it contained to the shop," KCFR reported.

It is believed the fire was a result of improperly disposed fireworks, KCFR said.

Companions Animal Center reported it took in three dogs that were picked up running loose Tuesday night, likely frightened by fireworks.

Two were claimed Wednesday, one remained in the care of CAC.
