Patricia Dickinson Swann passed away June 22, 2023, after a long and loving life of 101 years.

Pat was born in Great Falls, Mont., and at 18 went off to college in Seattle, where she met Bill Swann, a Navy pilot. Pat and Bill married and she followed him to postings around the country during WWII.

After the war, they returned to Seattle for Bill to finish his college degree. Their first child, Cindy, was born in Seattle. After six months, they moved again, this time to Spokane. In Spokane, there were three more additions to the family; Melissa, Christie and Dick. They had a place on Lake Coeur d’Alene and summers were full of kids, boats, swimming and friends.

Job opportunities took the couple to Memphis, back to Spokane, a move to Missouri and lastly back to Coeur d’Alene, where they retired.

She was an accomplished artist in stained glass, loved to arrange flowers and had a talent for interior design. Her role as mother and wife was paramount in supporting her children and her husband. She was a longtime member of the Art Study group in Coeur d’Alene and was a social player of bridge with two groups of friends. She was at the core of a “neighborhood” at the lake, and there was no party she was not the highlight of featuring family, friends and a good glass of Chardonnay.

Pat had only one brother, who passed away in childhood. Both husband Bill and daughter Melissa had passed away prior to her death. Surviving family includes Cindy Mowery and husband Peter, Christie Dugan and husband Cliff, and Dick Swann and wife Libby. Additionally, she has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as nephews, all of whom were treasured by her.

On her 100th birthday, she had three parties, well-attended by family and friends. Her presence and grace will be missed.

Remembrances may be made in donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
