The rubber duck race returned to Libby Saturday afternoon.

While the race was reduced to a plastic swimming pool filled with numbered ducks because of low water in nearby Flower Creek, everyone made the best of it as the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce worked to raise money for its work in the community.

Chamber Board President Bruce Vincent was decked out in various forms of personal flotation devices when he dove into the shallow pool, spilling water and ducks onto the pavement of the parking lot at Ace Home and Garden Center.

Chamber General Manager Myranda Cravens said it had been several years since it held the duck race.

"We needed to raise some money because our banquet fundraiser hasn't returned to pre-pandemic levels, but it was also a fun thing to do," Cravens said. "We appreciate everyone who bought ducks."

She said 398 ducks were sold.

Liz Whalen won first place prize, $1,000, while Chris Noble claimed the $250 second place prize. Gruber Sawmill won third place, $75.
