Carolyn Alice Woodworth, 80
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 10 months AGO
Carolyn Woodworth passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on June 17, 2023. She was born May 28, 1943, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Gerald and Alice Power. She married her first love, Wayne Woodworth, of Gleed, Wash., in 1960 and joined him in his life of ministry. In this pursuit, they pastored churches in Deer Park, Wash., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Pendleton, Ore., Stratton, Colo., Redding, Calif., and Colville, Wash.
She sought to help others in every capacity she was able from summer Vacation Bible School programs to Easter and Christmas pageants. Carolyn became a CNA and opened her home to care for seniors. She became a licensed daycare provider and opened her home to children. After retiring from ministry, Wayne and Carolyn worked together as directors of a Senior Housing Facility and helped usher in a new form of senior housing, commonly referred to today as assisted living.
Carolyn and Wayne retired in the community of Newport, Wash., to be closer to family. They put their natural talent of making something out of nothing to work on a plot of land on Coyote Trail Road with an old trailer home. Many friends and family members helped to convert it into the home they shared for some 25 years. Only health issues, and the desire to be together forever, could take them off of that hillside.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, of nearly 63 years, Wayne Woodworth; son Mark (Lynette) Woodworth of Hayden, Idaho; daughter Teresa (Eric) Stone of Clinton, Mass.; and grandchildren Andrew (Ashley) Woodworth, Aubrey (Jared) Crist, Alysse Woodworth, Emily Stone, Sarah Stone and Nathan Stone. She is preceded in death by daughter Patricia Woodworth and infant sons Kenny and Michael.
A joint service for Wayne and Carolyn will take place at the time of Wayne's passing.
Carolyn, you can rest without pain and suffering with your Savior, Jesus.
