LEGION BASEBALL: Lums win two to open Seattle-area tourney

AUBURN, Wash. — Coeur d’Alene beat the Seattle Wave 18U 10-7 and Northwest Diamond Sports Black 10-3 on Thursday at Brannan Park to get off to a 2-0 start at the Northwest Club Championships in the Seattle area.
Against the Wave, Coeur d’Alene broke the game open with an eight-run second inning. Kyle Bridge tied it at 2 with an RBI single, Joe DuCoeur followed with an RBI single, Eric Bumbaugh a sacrifice fly, Bridge scored on an error, DuCoeur scored on a passed ball, Tristan Usdrowski hit a two-run single, and Bryce Hall singled in a run.
Seattle scored three runs and loaded the bases in the top of the sixth and final inning, but reliever Karl Schwarzer induced a popout to first baseman Caden Robinett to end the game.
Against Northwest Diamond Sports Black, Coeur d’Alene trailed 3-2 before scoring five runs in the top of the fifth inning. Robinett scored on a balk to tie the game, Hall doubled in Nolan Christ and DuCoeur delivered a two-run single.
In the fourth, DuCoeur tripled in Bridge, then scored on a wild pitch.
The Lums (18-13) are scheduled to play the Dragons Elite today at 11:15 a.m. at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Wash.
