OLYMPIA — Nearly 80 wineries located throughout Eastern Washington won numerous medals at the 2023 Washington Wine Awards, according to an announcement from the organizers of the event, which was held in April.

Wine regions in Walla Walla, Prosser, Yakima and the Tri-Cities were standouts among the lengthy list of award winners provided in the announcement. However, wineries were situated throughout the region, including in Chelan County, Benton County, Spokane, Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Clarkston and Goldendale. Wineries in Oregon cities Hood River and Milton-Freewater also earned awards.

According to the announcement, the competition used a 100-point scale to determine which specific wines would win double-gold, gold and silver medals. Of the previously mentioned winners, 23 were awarded double gold, the highest award. Additionally, double gold winners included four wineries from Prosser, four from Mason, three from Walla Walla and three from Chelan.
