A Shelby man is facing federal gun charges after a joint investigation by several agencies, including the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Cory Glen Robocker, 27, appeared in Missoula on June 29 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kathleen L. DeSoto and pleaded not guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

If convicted of the most serious crime, Robocker faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. Robocker was initially detained in the Missoula County Detention Center pending further proceedings. Current jail records indicate he is no longer in the facility.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Toole County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Montana Probation and Parole investigated the case.

On March 22, 2020, in Lincoln County, Robocker, knowing he had been convicted on or about May 22, 2019, of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year under the laws of the State of Montana, knowingly possessed, in and affecting interstate commerce, a firearm.

On the second count, Robocker is charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition on July 3, 2020, in Toole County.

The third count also originated in Lincoln County on Feb. 24, 2021, in Lincoln County, when law enforcement determined Robocker knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition.

Federal Public Defender Hank Branom is handling Robocker’s case.
